Subject: | Data Privacy Protection Legislation |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation that will strengthen consumer privacy protection when personal data has been breached. My proposed legislation amends the Breach of Personal Information Notification Act, (the "Act") by requiring persons or businesses operating in Pennsylvania to include, along with the notification of a security breach, an offer to provide appropriate identity theft prevention and mitigation services to the affected person, at no cost, for no less than 12 months. The requisite for providing such services will only apply in cases where the breach exposed or may have exposed personal information as specified in the Act. |
Introduced as SB753
