Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 1, 2014 10:22 AM
From: Senator Rob Teplitz
To: All Senate members
Subject: Legislation – Open Primaries

In the near future, I will be re-introducing Senate Bill 696 from last session. This bill would amend the Election Code to allow for registered independents to vote in primary elections. The bill would also allow those persons who are not registered as either Republicans or Democrats to temporarily change their registration status, and therefore take part in a primary election. The status of this change would expire after the voter has cast his/her ballot, unless the voter filled out an additional form after voting.

Previous co-sponsors of SB 696 were Senator Blake and Senator Boscola.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important reform measure.

Introduced as SB192
