Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 4, 2012 01:13 PM
From: Senator Stewart J. Greenleaf
To: All Senate members
Subject: Disabled veteran plate

I am reintroducing Senate Bill 73, amending the Vehicle Code, Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, to reduce the percentage of service-connected disability required for a veteran to qualify for a severely disabled veteran license plate. My legislation reduces the requirement from 100% disability to at least 75% disability.

The Department of Transportation issues the special registration plate designating the vehicle as belonging to a severely disabled veteran. As a result of having this disabled veteran plate, the veteran may park in areas reserved for handicapped parking.

The special registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck with a gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds. In the case of a motorcycle, the department issues a decal for display on the registration plate.

This legislation passed the Senate in a prior session.

Introduced as SB94
