Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 28, 2015 04:09 PM
From: Senator Rob Teplitz and Sen. Mike Folmer
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution – Honoring the 230th Anniversary of Dauphin County

In the near future, Senator Folmer and I plan on introducing a resolution honoring Dauphin County’s 230th anniversary.

In 1785 the General Assembly created Dauphin County in honor of the Prince of France, who had assisted the colonies in the Revolutionary War. Twenty-five years later the Pennsylvania State Capitol was relocated from Lancaster to Harrisburg. Dauphin County’s first courthouse served as the state’s capitol from 1812 until 1822.

The year 2015 marks the 230th anniversary of Dauphin County which will be commemorated by a series of events beginning in May and continuing through the summer including courthouse tours, creation of a heritage mural, a young artists’ alley, and a quilt specifically crafted to honor the heritage of African-Americans in Dauphin County.

I hope you will join us in honoring the history, the achievements, and the people of Dauphin County by co-sponsoring this resolution.
