From: Senator Jay Costa
To: All Senate members
Subject: Exempting Veterans Disability Benefits as Eligible Income under State Programs

Please join me in sponsoring legislation introduced as Senate Bill 388 in the 2013-2014 legislative session. The bill was co-sponsored by Senators Kasunic, Kitchen, Stack, Brewster, Teplitz, Fontana, Greenleaf, Yudichak, Erickson, Ward, Browne, Solobay, Hutchinson, Mensch, Baker, Vulakovich, Rafferty, Vogel, Washington, Waugh, Blake, Tartaglione, Smith, Schwank, Hughes, Boscola, and Williams.

The legislation will exempt veterans’ disability benefits as eligible income under certain programs. Under the bill, veterans’ disability benefits cannot be deemed income under the following acts: Senior Citizen Property Tax and Rent Rebate Assistance (Act 1), PACE/PACENET, and Section 1901 of the Vehicle Code (Exemption of persons, entities and vehicles from fees).

I hope you will join me in sponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as SB510
