Subject: | Remember Everyone Deployed (“Red Friday”) |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to commemorate June 27, 2014 as “Remember Everyone Deployed (Red Friday)” in Pennsylvania. SGT Bowe R. Bergdahl, a United States Army soldier and native of Idaho, was captured by the Taliban on June 30, 2009. SGT Bergdahl is America’s last living prisoner of war. Red Friday was designed as an opportunity for red-blooded Americans to demonstrate their support of the troops whom are currently deployed. Groups have advocated the wearing of red on Fridays to show their support for all members of the armed forces abroad, regardless of the circumstances under which they were deployed. People will wear the bold and bright color red until the last troop returns home. Friday has been designated as a common day of the week to wear the color red for all the service men and women who are deployed. Please join me in honoring the sacrifice of these servicemen and servicewomen who continue to be deployed as well as honoring SGT Bowe R. Bergdahl and the ultimate sacrifice he has made to his country by signing on as a co-sponsor of this resolution. |
