Subject: | Community College Month |
I will soon introduce a resolution designating April 2014 as Pennsylvania Community College Month. Pennsylvania’s community colleges serve more than 365,000 students across the Commonwealth, from high school students in dual-enrollment programs to adult students of all ages. In so doing, Pennsylvania community colleges provide a wide range of educational opportunities, including in high-demand and high-growth industries such as health care, public safety, energy and manufacturing. In addition, the more than 2,700 articulation agreements developed by Pennsylvania’s community colleges allow more than 32,00 students to transition to four-year degree programs each and every year. Also, more than 1,100 employers in Pennsylvania have contracted with community colleges to provide training for nearly 30,200 employees |
