Subject: Legislation to Amend the “Plumbing System Lead Ban and Notification Act”
 
Recent changes in federal law requires Pennsylvania to update its “Plumbing System Lead Ban and Notification Act" (Act 33 of 1989). This law prohibits the use of items that are not “lead free”; this includes pipes, plumbing fixtures, and solder. My legislation changes the definition of “lead free” in the act. The changes, required by federal law, will further reduce the amount of lead in plumbing fixtures and reduce exposure to lead in tap water.
