Subject: | CWO-2 Yoder Highway Naming |
I will shortly introduce legislation designating state route 662 in Ruscombmanor Township, Berks County, the Chief Warrant Officer-2 Jarret M. Yoder highway. CWO-2 Yoder, who grew up in Ruscombmanor Township, died on April 9, 2013 in the crash of his Apache attack helicopter during a mission in Nangarhar Provice, Afghanistan, where he was serving with the 1-104th Attack Reconaissance Battalion of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. It was his second deployment since enlisting in the National Guard in 2005 after graduating High School. He had previously served in Iraq in 2008 with the 1-111th Infantry Regiment of the PANG. CWO-2 Yoder was married shortly before leaving for Afghanistan in 2012 and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star medal, Air Medal and NATO Medal for his service in Afghanistan, and was the recipient of Combat Infantryman Badge and Combat Action Badge, as well as the Irag and Afghanistan Campaign medals. |
