MEMORANDUM

Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Law Month Resolution

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the month of May 2013 as Law Month in Pennsylvania.

On May 1, 2013, the Pennsylvania Bar Association will launch its annual Law Day program, recognizing the importance of our court systems and professionals working within the field of law. This year, the theme of Law Day is Realizing the Dream: Equality for All. Not only does this theme honor the 150th anniversary of the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation, but also, it acknowledges the great strides we, as a society, have made towards achieving freedom and equality for everyone.

During Law Month, the Pennsylvania Bar Association will be hosting activities throughout Pennsylvania in recognition of our legal and judicial systems, as well as in celebration of the Law Day theme. School students will be visited in their classrooms to teach them about their legal rights and responsibilities and the essence of being an American citizen. Residents are encouraged to delve into the history of the civil and human rights movements in this nation during the month of May. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
