Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Older Americans Month Resolution
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the month of May 2013 as Older Americans Month.

Since 1963, this nation has honored the legacies and ongoing contributions of older Americans, and it has supported their transitions into their new phases of life. In Pennsylvania, we recognize every older person has contributed to this state in some way, and it is important that we pay tribute to the accomplishments of these individuals within our communities. This year, the theme of Older Americans Month is Unleash the Power of Age.

In today’s society, with the modernizations of medicine and technology, this theme is increasingly apparent, as older persons are remaining active and productive individuals. More than ever before, they are eagerly pursuing new challenges and ventures. On behalf of these knowledgeable, experienced and talented individuals who have paved the way for younger generations, I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
