Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 3, 2013 03:08 PM
From: Senator Richard L. Alloway, II
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution Recognizing the 70th Anniversary of NFIB

In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing May 20th, 2013, as the 70th Anniversary of the National Federation of Independent Business” and its presence in Pennsylvania.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is the leading small business association in the United States and celebrates 70 years as the voice of small business in Washington, D.C. all 50 states, and 15,000 small businesses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

NFIB began May 20, 1943 as the brainchild of C. Wilson Harder who believed the government should not stand in the way of small-business owners but instead champion their success for the good of the nation and free enterprise.

NFIB positions exclusively come from the democratic polling of its grassroots membership, thus reflecting the actual interests of small-business owners and leading to the growth of those companies and job creation.

NFIB has been honored by U.S. Presidents, Members of Congress, Governors, and other elected officials for bringing an understanding of the critical issues facing small-business owners to policy makers, especially those of taxation, over-regulation and other mandates that can choke the life out of those companies.

NFIB offers millions of dollars in scholarships through its Young Entrepreneurs Foundation, low cost business services, represents small business interests in the courts and gathers data to give insight on small-business trends.

For 70 years NFIB has relentlessly worked to advocate for the message that small business is the engine of job growth, the lifeblood of American entrepreneurship and essential to the creation of a better standard of living for all.
