Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 12, 2013 04:27 PM
From: Senator Richard L. Alloway, II
To: All Senate members
Subject: Licensed Professional Land Surveyors - Legal Right to Entry - VERSION TWO

In the near future I will be reintroducing SB1461 of last legislative session. This legislation will provide licensed professional land surveyors with a legal right of entry.

Presently, no such protection exists in Pennsylvania. Professional land surveyors are charged with conducting surveys to re-establish property boundaries based on rules of evidence. That process normally requires the surveyor to incidentally step onto neighboring properties to recover and locate boundary evidence.

My legislation will require that notice be provided to adjacent land owners while also giving legal protection to the land surveyor conducting the survey.

This right of entry is strictly limited to activities related to the performance of a boundary or topographic land survey.

Introduced as SB832
