Subject: | Memo #12 - Hunting License Increase |
In the near future, I intend to reintroduce legislation that would increase license fees for 4 of the 34 licenses issued by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and decrease fees for 2 junior nonresident licenses. The legislation will provide for the following increases: Adult Resident Hunting Increase Resident Antlerless Deer Increase $19 to $25 July 1, 2014 $5 to $12 July 1, 2014 $25 to $30 July 1, 2017 $12 to $15 July 1, 2020 $30 to $35 July 1, 2020 Adult Nonresident Hunting Increase Junior Nonresident Hunting Decrease $100 to $150 Hunting $40 to $20 Hunting and Furtaking $50 to $25 Resident Migratory Game Bird Hunting Increase $2 to $5 In addition, this legislation will create a new adult resident combination license for hunting, furtaking, archery and muzzleloader. The fee for this license will be $67 beginning July 1, 2014, increasing to $72 on July 1, 2017, and to $77 on July 1, 2020. This combination license will save hunters $5 on each license individually. A purchaser would then save $3 in vendor fees and another $2.10 in ALS point of sales fees for a total savings of $10.10. The Game Commission has not received a fee increase since 1998 and all income is derived from the sale of licenses, fines, federal reimbursement, sale of timber and natural resources and rights of ways. The Commission uses this funding to manage over 1.4 million acres of land, and 467 species of wildlife. |
