Subject: | Bridge naming. |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will name a new bridge connecting Washington County to Greene County. The bridge carries State Route 88 over the Ten Mile Creek. The bridge is to be named after Lieutenant General William M. Keys. General Keys was born in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania (Washington County). After attending the United States Naval Academy, he served a long an impressive career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm. He was awarded the Navy Cross, the Silver Star, and a host of other high honors and medals. He also was the Marine Corps Liaison Officer to the United States Senate and Deputy, Joint Secretariat, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C. After 34 years of service to his country, General Keys retired from the USMC (1994). Thank you for your consideration. |
