Subject: Emergency Epi-Pens For Public Sector Entities
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation titled the Food Allergy Emergency Administration Standards Act. I sponsored this legislation in the House of Representatives as HB 2068 during the 2011-2012 legislative session. This legislation allows public sector entities to provide epinephrine auto injectors, or epi-pens, for use in emergency situations.

It requires the Department of Health to adopt regulations for the approval of training programs relating to the possession and administration of epinephrine in emergency situations and authorizes certain individuals to obtain a prescription for, purchase and administer epinephrine in emergency situations.
