Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 29, 2013 02:52 PM
From: Senator Andrew E. Dinniman
To: All Senate members
Subject: Exemption from Professional Continuing Education Requirements

I plan to re-introduce SB 844 of 2011-2012, my legislation that exempts school leaders from continuing education requirements if their school or school district makes Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) or shows growth under the Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System (PVAAS) for three consecutive years.

If for any reason the school or school district fails to make the necessary progress or growth for any year after the exemption is applicable, the leaders from that school or school district will not be exempt from the requirement of continuing education until an additional three years of consecutive progress or growth is once again achieved.

If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Lisa Felix of my staff at 705-5849 or by e-mail to lfelix@pasenate.com. Thank you for your consideration.
