Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 9, 2013 04:47 PM
From: Senator Jay Costa
To: All Senate members
Subject: Film Production Tax Credit

Please join me in sponsoring legislation introduced as Senate Bill 594 in the 2011-2012 legislative session by Senators COSTA, ERICKSON, BROWNE, TARTAGLIONE, KITCHEN, FONTANA, SOLOBAY, BREWSTER, YUDICHAK, FERLO and LEACH.

Currently, the Pennsylvania film tax credit can only be used to reduce liability for the personal income tax, capitol stock and franchise tax, or the corporate net income tax. This legislation would expand the list of eligible taxes to include the bank shares tax, title insurance company shares tax, insurance premiums tax, and mutual thrift institutions tax. This change will make the film tax credit consistent with the other tax credits available in Pennsylvania.

I hope you will join me in sponsoring this legislation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Introduced as SB794
