Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 8, 2013 01:17 PM
From: Senator Timothy J. Solobay
To: All Senate members
Subject: Contributions to the Lupus Foundation

In the near future, I plan on re-introducing legislation which amends the Tax Reform Code to provide for contributions to the Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania and the Lupus Foundation of America’s Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter.

As you may know, lupus is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease which causes the immune system to attack the body’s own tissue and organs, including the kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood and skin. The Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania and the Lupus Foundation of America serve those Commonwealth residents afflicted with this disease, as well as their families, by educating the public, funding medical research, and organizing support groups.

The lupus foundations rely on the generosity of others to continue to provide education and awareness about this debilitating disease. It is my goal to further these efforts by allowing Pennsylvanians to designate a portion of their state income tax refund to benefit the Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania or the Lupus Foundation of America’s Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter.

I hope that you will join me in helping to make it easier for Pennsylvanians to contribute to this cause.

This legislation was SB 851 of the 2011-12 session. Previous cosponsors include: Costa, Hughes, Fontana, Erickson, Brewster, Leach and Rafferty.
