Subject: Procurement Code Modernization
 
In the near future, I plan on re-introducing legislation (previous session SB 696) to modernize the Procurement Code to promote participation by small and disadvantaged businesses in government contracting. My bill would create targeted initiatives that would enable small and disadvantaged business to better compete for government contracts. Examples of these initiatives are: establish a small business reverse, a statewide bonding program, and a mentor-protégé program.

Pennsylvania’s economic recovery remains fragile and this proposal would encourage job creation for small businesses. This legislation is part of the PA WORKS package that is designed to create jobs within the Commonwealth.
