MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 2, 2018 10:02 AM
From: Representative Stan Saylor and Rep. Stephen Kinsey
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution - "Libraries Move PA Forward Day" in Pennsylvania - October 17, 2018

Representative Stephen Kinsey and I will shortly be introducing a resolution declaring October 17, 2018, as “Libraries Move PA Forward Day” in Pennsylvania. At the request of the Pennsylvania Library Association, this resolution is offered in celebration of the countless contributions that libraries and their dedicated staff have made to their communities.

PA Forward™, a 21st Century Literacies Initiative of the Pennsylvania Library Association, was developed to provide a venue for the library community to build upon their proven value in the academic, educational, private and municipal arenas. Libraries have gone far beyond being only book repositories and impact all lives on a daily basis. From enhancing a student’s learning experience and improving literacy, to reinforcing workforce development, to providing links between citizens and libraries’ varied and innumerable resources, Pennsylvania libraries are an integral part of moving PA Forward.

The libraries in our Commonwealth, their librarians and staff, provide invaluable services and resources to our citizens, thereby improving the lives of all in their communities. We would appreciate your joining us in sponsoring this resolution.
