Subject: Land Conveyance for PSERS
 
We are planning to introduce legislation that will convey property currently held by the Department of General Services to the Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS) through a PSERS-owned real estate holding company (812 Market, Inc.). The property, located at 908 Market Street, consists of approximately 0.49 acres of land and improvements located thereon, formerly known as the DGS Publications Building, situated in the city of Harrisburg, Dauphin County.

PSERS, through its holding company, intends to utilize the property to add to adjoining property, also controlled by PSERS (i.e. the former Patriot News property) to develop office space. The development of this property by PSERS will enhance its own operational efficiency and will be of economic benefit to the surrounding area within Harrisburg.

The Department of General Services fully supports the proposed legislation.
