MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 22, 2018 11:47 AM
From: Representative Jake Wheatley, Jr.
To: All House members
Subject: Co-sponsorship of Resolution - Computer Science Education Study

In the near future I plan to introduce a resolution asking the Joint State Government Commission (JSGC) to conduct a study on the future of computer science education in the Commonwealth. Computer science is the scientific and practical approach to computation. It is one of the most in-demand college degrees and is a fast growing career field. Despite this, computer science is underserved in Pennsylvania. The study by the JSGC would evaluate suggested policy proposals and the effect they would have on computer science in the Commonwealth and how we might adopt some or all of those proposals.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation so that we can encourage the Commonwealth to adopt common sense policies regarding computer science and support a growing, future-minded career field.
