MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 24, 2018 12:47 PM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: Designating May 2018 as “Military Service-Related Post-Traumatic Stress Injury Awareness Month”

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating May 2018 as “Military Service-Related Post-Traumatic Stress Injury Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.

Caused by the horrors experienced during war, post-traumatic stress injury has an insidious effect on the health of individuals and causes emotional, social, physical, and spiritual and communication challenges for both the veterans suffering from the disorder and their loved ones.

The month of May has been designated by the Congress of the United States as "National Military Appreciation Month" to remember those who gave their lives in defense of freedom and to honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have served and are now serving this country.

During the month of May, VE Day, Military Spouse Day, Loyalty Day, Armed Forces Day & Memorial Day are all observed. We should use this time during May to also reflect on the serious disorder of Post-Traumatic Stress Injury that affects many of our veterans and their families.

Please join me by co-sponsoring this resolution so that we may increase awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Injury.
