Subject:	Resolution Declaring May 2018 as Older Pennsylvanians Month

Please join us in recognizing the month of May as "Older Pennsylvanians Month" in Pennsylvania. Traditionally, May has been recognized as "Older Americans Month" here in Pennsylvania and across the nation. This year’s theme is “Engage at Every Age.” We want to acknowledge that more and more older adults are participating in activities that promote mental and physical wellness, offering their wisdom and experience to the next generation and seeking to mentor others with their life experiences. No matter where you are in your life, there is no better time than now to start. Since 2011, approximately 10,000 Americans turn 65 every day. The baby boomer generation is a much different senior population than the previous generation. The “Engage at Every Age” emphasizes that you are never too old (or young) to take part in activities that can enrich your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Older Pennsylvanians are leading and inspiring others. We continue to recognize older adults for their contributions to our communities. As Chairmen of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, we offer this resolution to specifically honor the older residents of our Commonwealth.
