Subject: | The Wall That Heals |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution in honor of The Wall That Heals, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. that will be on display on the State Capitol Grounds from May 9-13, 2018. The Wall That Heals honors more than 3 million Americans who served in the United States Armed Forces in the Vietnam War and bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Since many Americans have not been able to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, creators of both the original wall and the replica, want to give all veterans and their families an opportunity to see the memorial. The replica Wall will be available for public visitation 24 hours per day on the lawn in front of the K. Leroy Irvis Office Building. It will be open to the public beginning with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 through 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 13. Please join us in cosponsoring this resolution in honor of this very important tribute to our Vietnam Veterans. |
