Subject: | Reimbursement for Diaper Expenses |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a bill amending the Human Services Code, which would allow for individuals on public assistance to be reimbursed for certain diaper expenses. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation, which would allow recipients of public assistance to receive funds for purchasing diapers for children under three years of age. These requirements would be in accordance with other assistance programs in place to meet special needs of recipients, such as child day care and transportation and work support. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, one in every three parents finds it difficult to provide diapers for their children in the United States, and nearly 5.2 million children under the age of three suffer from diaper need. By providing this additional measure of assistance, we can allow those who are struggling to make ends meet peace of mind regarding the welfare of their children, and allow them to focus more attention and effort on providing for their families. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important legislation. |
