| Subject: | Resolution-National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day” in Pennsylvania |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating May 12, 2018, as “National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day” in Pennsylvania. May 12, 2018, will mark the 26th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, which is organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers. On that day, letter carriers across the country will work with volunteers to collect nonperishable food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes. Each year, these donations provide a critical boost for food banks, pantries, and shelters for the summer months when supplies are low and school lunch programs are not available for our youth. Last year, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive collected 75 million pounds of food. Since its inception in 1993, the annual food drive has collected nearly 1.6 billion pounds of food to help hungry families.
