| In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating March 19, 2018, as “Celebrating Women in Public Office Day” in Pennsylvania. As you know, females across the country and the Commonwealth remain grossly underrepresented in government. Therefore, it is imperative that we encourage women to serve in their communities, recognize the achievements of our female colleagues, and highlight the fundamental necessity of women’s work in the legislative process. In honor of Women’s History Month which takes place in March to recognize the significant contributions that females of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds have made to the world, I encourage my colleagues to join me in designating March 19, 2018, to celebrate women in public office.
