Subject:	AEDs at Athletic Events

In the near future I plan to introduce legislation that will require a school entity or nonpublic school, to have an AED present at all interscholastic athletic events, including practices. During the course of an athletic activity, there exists the potential for a tragic cardiac event. The purpose of this legislation is that by requiring that an AED be present, as well as an detailed plan of action for addressing said event, the potential for a cardiac episode turning fatal, may be avoided. This legislation will require each school entity or nonpublic school to establish and implement a sudden cardiac event emergency action plan, for responding to a sudden cardiac event at an athletic activity.
