Subject: | Co-Sponsorship - Pennsylvania Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Reauthorization |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation to reauthorize the Pennsylvania Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) which is set to expire on December 31, 2017. The CHIP program is designed to provide insurance coverage to uninsured children and teens (up to age 19) whose families earn too much to qualify for Medical Assistance, but who cannot afford to purchase private insurance. The CHIP program is supported by both state and federal funds and provides payment for health care coverage for eligible children who meet income and other criteria. In Pennsylvania, there are over 174,000 children currently enrolled in CHIP. My legislation will ensure that children across the Commonwealth continue to have access to this vital program. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
