House of Representatives
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 20, 2017 11:47 AM
From: Representative Matthew E. Baker
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Recognizing May 1 through May 7, 2017 as "American Religious History Week"

All of us are aware of the influence of religion at the time of the Nation’s founding and throughout its history, as well as the numerous monuments and displays in our public buildings that have some association with this influence. In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to note some of the many instances when religious references have occurred in the public life of the nation. In recognition of this impact, the resolution will designate the week of May 1 through May 7, 2017 as “American Religious History Week” and oppose the removal or alteration of historical monuments and public buildings to eradicate traces of this history.

This resolution passed unanimously last session.

I hope you join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution. Thank you for your interest and support.
