MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Resolution congratulating the PSU football team for winning the Big Ten championship

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution congratulating the Pennsylvania State University football team for winning the Big Ten championship on December 3, 2016.

As I am sure you are aware, the Penn State Nittany Lions football team closed out the 2016 regular season as Big Ten champions. After a devastating 39-point loss to Michigan, which dropped the team’s record to 2-2, the team came back to win nine straight games. While the team accumulated several quality wins, their 24-14 defeat of number two ranked Ohio State put the Big Ten on notice that Penn State was on their way to being a contender again. After finishing the season 10-2 and tying Ohio State as champions of the Big Ten East, Penn State faced number six ranked Wisconsin at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on December 3, 2016. After overcoming a 21-point deficit, the Nittany Lions would go on to win the Big Ten championship 38-31. Thanks to great performances by numerous players and the leadership of coach James Franklin, Penn State finished fifth in the College Football Playoff Rankings. The 2016 Big Ten championship is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of the players and coaches of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team.

Please join me in congratulating the Pennsylvania State University football team on their 2016 Big Ten championship.
