Subject:	Increasing Penalties for Violators of Stopped School Buses

In the immediate future, I will introduce legislation that will increase the penalties for those who violate Section 3345 of the Vehicle Code (stopped school bus when their red signals are flashing). These penalties were last amended in 2002. The proposed legislation would increase the penalties as below: 1st Offense - 5 points added to your driving record and a 90 day suspension with a $500 fine. 2nd Offense in 4 year license period a 6 month suspension and $1,000 fine. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
