| Subject: | Resolution Recognizing Luis Figueroa-Roig |
| In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing Luis Figueroa-Roig for his musical talent. A native of Philadelphia and of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, Luis Figueroa-Roig is a rising star in the Latin music industry and a worldwide phenomenon with over 5.5 million views and 43,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel. His musical talent was recognized at a young age, leading to invitations to perform at the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in New York, on “Sabado Gigante” and at “Octavitas de Reyes.” Figueroa-Roig was also a contestant on “Star Search,” “American Idol” and held the title of “Teen Idol” in the Philadelphia Lights of Liberty show. In addition, he graduated from the Girard Academic Music Program and the Prestigious Berklee College of Music. Now, at 26, Figueroa-Roig won his first award at Univision’s 13th Edition of Premios Juventud Youth Awards where he also performed with superstars Marc Anthony and Sergio George and was signed by Anthony’s entertainment company Magnus Media for a production deal. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to recognize Luis Figueroa-Roig and acknowledge his incredible achievements as an artist, entertainer, and representative of both this Commonwealth and the Hispanic community.
