Subject: Resolution recognizing September 2016 as “Senior Center Month” in Pennsylvania
 
In the near future we plan to introduce a resolution recognizing September 2016 as “Senior Center Month” in Pennsylvania.

“Senior Center Month” has been celebrated annually since its inception in 1979. Since then, citizens, aging organizations, and public officials have taken the time to recognize the vital services that senior centers have extended to our aging population and communities. Senior centers, which serve nearly one million seniors every day across the nation, provide nutrition and wellness programs, transportation services, employment assistance, and social activities which empower our older citizens to strengthen their mental and physical well-being and gain independence.

Please join us celebrating the month of September 2016 as “Senior Center Month” in Pennsylvania and recognizing their important contributions to our Commonwealth.
