MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 28, 2016 03:49 PM
From: Representative Tonyelle Cook-Artis
To: All House members
Subject: Rep. Cook-Artis Co-Sponsorship Memo - Businesses Displaying a Veteran and Military Personnel Discount

In the near future I will introduce a bill that would require businesses to display the nature of their veteran or military discount on any goods or services.

Specifically, my measure would require a business to display in a public and conspicuous location the nature of any discount offered to veterans or military personnel. For example, if a restaurant offers a 10% discount to veterans or military personnel, they would need to display this in a window, or even on their menu. In addition, if a business offers the sale of good or services on its Internet website, the nature of the discount must be displayed on the website.

Moreover, this bill would not require a business to offer a discount to these individuals. My measure would also allow a business to ask verification to receive a veteran or military personnel discount.

Our veterans and military personnel provide this country with an invaluable service. My goal is to ensure that every veteran and military personnel know when a business is offering a discount.

I ask for your support in this measure by co-sponsoring this bill.
