Subject: Co-sponsor memo on making drug overdose and Narcan lifesaving reportable events
 

In the near future we intend to introduce legislation that will make drug overdose a reportable event to the Health Department.

Additionally, our legislation will call for the reporting of lives saved by Narcan so that we may keep track of these events in order to establish better public policy around the issue of addiction. The bill will require county-level data on overdoses and the usage of overdose reversal medication on a quarterly basis. Currently there are gaps in statewide data on the size and the scope of this problem. Our legislation requires data collection on overdoses and overdose reversals to provide additional protections to combat this epidemic.
