| Subject: | Amends the Cosmetology Law- Provides for Proximity of Salons |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would provide for the proximity of salons under the same or adjoining roof. It adds a grandfather clause for those salons that are currently in operation. Finally, it would prohibit the Board of Cosmetology to issue variances for the requirements of the new section. My legislation would require that a salon that is located under the same or adjoining roof be 100 feet apart from another salon. This addition would not apply to salons that are situated across from the entrance of another salon. Under my legislation, salons that are in operation prior to adoption of the legislation would be grandfathered. If the salon were to close and re-open, they would then be covered under the new legislation and subject to the 100 feet proximity. The Board of Cosmetology would be prohibited from granting variances to salons under this section. I hope you will join me in sponsoring this legislation. |
