House of Representatives
Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 2, 2016 12:16 PM
From: Representative Donna Bullock and Rep. Stephen Kinsey
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution that will recognize the week of June 13 through June 19th as “Men’s Health Week” in Pennsylvania

In the coming days, we plan to introduce a Resolution that will recognize the week of June 13 through June 19th as “Men’s Health Week” in Pennsylvania.

As you know, Men’s Health Week is annually celebrated during the week leading up to and including Father’s Day in the United States and other nations. Its purpose is to heighten awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and early treatment of diseases among men and boys. Many of the causes of premature death among men are preventable or treatable if caught in the early stages.

In addition, as part of Men’s Health Week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises sufficient sleep, cessation of smoking or excessive alcohol use, regular aerobic activity, good nutrition and stress management, as well as immunization and recognition of disease signs. With that said, the House of Representatives should join health care providers, public policy makers, and concerned individuals as they focus on issues impacting men’s wellness and fitness.

Therefore, it is with the motivation of promoting a healthier lifestyle for men that we are offering this Resolution. If you have any questions, please contact Takesha Latham at 717-787-3480 or via email at tlatham@pahouse.net.
