| Subject: | Resolution Designating the Week of May 9 through May 15, 2016 as “Fallen Firefighters Survivors’ Week” in Pennsylvania and Designating May 13, 2016 as “Fallen Firefighters Survivors’ Day” in Pennsylvania. |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of May 9 through May 15, 2016 as “Fallen Firefighters Survivors’ Week” and designating May 13, 2016 as “Fallen Firefighters Survivors’ Day” in Pennsylvania. Throughout the Commonwealth, thousands of firefighters put their lives at risk with each emergency response they make to duty. Tragically, not all who respond make it back to the station alive. Each fallen firefighter leaves behind family and other loved ones in addition to fellow firefighters. On May 31, 2016 at the Middletown Country Club, the Ninth Annual Southeastern Pennsylvania Fallen Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament will be hosted to honor fallen firefighters to and raise funds for survivors of the fallen. Because the firefighting community (be they volunteer or career) is always there to serve the people of the Commonwealth, it is fitting we honor them whenever possible by helping their survivors. Please join me in recognizing “Fallen Firefighters Survivors’ Week” and “Fallen Firefighters Survivors’ Day” in Pennsylvania. |
