MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Resolution declaring the week of May 1 through 8, 2016, as “National Music Week” in Pennsylvania

In the near future, I am planning to introduce a resolution declaring the week of May 1 through 8, 2016, as “National Music Week” in Pennsylvania.

National Music Week is celebrated annually to highlight the special role that music plays in life. This week long celebration will mark the 93rd annual observance of National Music Week. This year’s theme is “Music…Notes to the Future.”

Music is the universal language of the world, and is unique in its dynamic ability to inspire the human spirit, promoting peace, harmony and understanding among different cultures. Moreover, people the world over share in the joy of experiencing music through its many facets, including studying, composing, listening to, or performing music.

Indeed, music is a vital part of the culture of every civilized nation, and the citizens of this Commonwealth have a rich history and tradition of participating in and enjoying music. With this in mind, my resolution will commemorate the unique nature of music and its special place in our lives and our world.

Please join me in highlighting and celebrating the many joys and wonders of music.
