From: Representative Neal P. Goodman
To: All House members
Subject: Lithuanian Independence Day in Pennsylvania – February 16, 2016

I will be re-introducing a resolution celebrating February 16, 2016 as Lithuanian Independence Day in Pennsylvania.

Lithuanian Independence Day was first celebrated in Pennsylvania when Act 17 of 1989 designated this date as a day to recognize the outstanding contributions made by the Lithuanian people to the heritage of both our Commonwealth and our country. The contributions of people of Lithuanian descent span from the arts to sports and everything in between.

In addition to Pennsylvania's status as having the second-highest population of Lithuanian-Americans in the United States, Schuylkill County has the highest concentration of persons of Lithuanian descent in the nation.
