Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: WHITE- Resolution Designating Jan. 9, 2016 as Law Enforcement Day in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating January 9, 2016, as Law Enforcement Day in Pennsylvania, recognizing our law enforcement officers who serve and sacrifice to protect our communities and safeguard our democracy. Each day, 780,000 law enforcement officers put a badge on knowing they may face extremely dangerous situations. Sadly, between 105 and 203 officers die in the line of duty each year, with five officers killed in service of the protection of this Commonwealth in 2015. Additionally, 50,000 officers are assaulted in the line of duty each year and 14,000 officers are injured in the line of duty each year. Law enforcement officers play such an integral role in our society, protecting the public at all times. Please join me in recognizing and honoring those who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities safe by co-sponsoring this resolution. |
