Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 9, 2015 02:18 PM
From: Representative Robert Freeman
To: All House members
Subject: Constitutional Amendment

In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation that would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to provide the Auditor General with the authority to audit the financial affairs of the General Assembly and its legislative service agencies.

This legislation is a companion bill to my proposal (House Bill 1744) to allow the Auditor General to conduct Audits of the General Assembly. Although audits by the Auditor General could be conducted without the passage of a constitutional amendment if House Bill 1744 were enacted, some attorneys in the LRB felt a grant of constitutional authority may be required. As such, I am introducing this bill as well.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as HB1772
