Subject: | Resolution designating the week of November 8 through 14, 2015 as “Home Care Aide Week” in Pennsylvania |
In the coming days, I plan to introduce a Resolution designating the week of November 8 through 14, 2015 as “Home Care Aide Week” in Pennsylvania. As many of you know, Pennsylvanians of all ages need some form of daily assistance to remain living at home and that long term nursing home care is generally more expensive than in-home care. In-home care allows families to save on the high costs of nursing home care and provides families with the affordable option of keeping their loved ones at home. In-home care aides work with nurses, therapists, social workers, and family members as part of the home care community. Their work includes observing, recording, and reporting physical and mental changes in a client’s condition, as well as cooking, cleaning, shopping, errands, and other daily tasks. Aides also help to reduce hospital readmissions for clients and they also ensure that individuals in their care have access to a range of services at a fraction of the cost. With that said, in appreciation of those part-time and full-time care givers who provide in-home care and the invaluable work that they provide, it is for these reasons and many more that I am proud to offer this Resolution.
