MEMORANDUM

Posted: November 5, 2015 11:08 AM
From: Representative Tina Pickett
To: All House members
Subject: Leiutenant Commander John J. Peterman Memorial Highway Designation

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will designate a portion of State Route 220, from State Route 405 in Hughesville Borough, Lycoming County to State Route 42 in Laporte Township, Sullivan County, as the Lieutenant Commander John J. Peterman Memorial Highway.

Lieutenant Commander Peterman was a resident of Sullivan County and a graduate of Sullivan Highlands School in Sonestown. He enlisted in the United States Navy 11 days after graduation and served for 31 years. Upon retirement, he returned home to Sullivan County and served a term as county sheriff, and as a Laporte Township Supervisor. He was also a volunteer at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, often giving the children a living history lesson and making them “honorary submariners.”

Please join me in cosponsoring legislation honoring this dedicated Pennsylvanian.
