Subject: November as "Infant Safe Sleep Month"
 
I intend to introduce a resolution that recognizes the month of November as “Infant Safe Sleep Month” in Pennsylvania.

The resolution references an American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force report that recommends infants be placed on their backs to sleep and that the safest environment for sleep consists of babies sleeping alone in an empty crib with a tightly-fitted sheet and sufficient sleepwear. Providing this information to parents, grandparents, relatives and day-care providers helps prevent unnecessary deaths of babies.
