MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 19, 2015 03:34 PM
From: Representative Mark Mustio
To: All House members
Subject: Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law - Amendment

In the near future, I will introduce legislation that amends the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law. The legislation makes a number of changes to current exemptions and cleans up some loose continuing education language.

I introduced a similar bill earlier this session that removed an exemption commonly referred to as the “industrial exemption”. This new bill drops that change and should make passage of the legislation much easier.

This bill also replaces antiquated terms like "correspondence courses" and "tutorials" with "distance learning". The intent is to strengthen the integrity of the continuing education requirements for licensees under this act.

The passage of this legislation will bring about a safer Pennsylvania without creating an undue burden on the engineering community.

Thank you.

Introduced as HB1704
