Subject: Revised Public Official Compensation Law Memo
 
In the next few of weeks, the Chief Clerk will announce the annual, automatic cost of living adjustment for the General Assembly, effective Dec 1, 2015. This adjustment is based upon the increase in the Consumer Price Index for Philadelphia and the Mid-Atlantic region; and based upon year-to-date information, it is my understanding that this year's COLA may be an approximate 1% to 2% increase in our salary.

Given our economic climate and the fact that there will be no COLA in Social Security benefits this year, I plan to introduce legislation that amends the Public Official Compensation Law to suspend this December 1, 2015 annual cost-of-living-adjustment for members, officers and leaders of the General Assembly. This act would expire in one year on November 30, 2016.
